Microsoft has just handed its AI models a genuine rulebook: a list of 'absolute' constraints — no cyberattacks, no help with weapons, no deepfakes, and above all no deceptive mechanism to escape a shutdown ordered by a human. This framework overrides even the user's requests, and answers a very real worry after several incidents of agents going off the rails.

We don't train models at Devside, but the lesson holds at our scale. Putting AI into an app means spelling out in black and white what it's allowed to do, keeping a human in the decisions that matter, and planning a clean stop when it steps outside the lines. Guardrails don't hold ambition back — they're what lets you ship it with a clear head. A rulebook for AI isn't distrust: it's diligence.
